BMW M TEAM WRT SECURES SECOND HYPERCAR VICTORY OF THE SEASON IN SÃO PAULO, WITH A DOUBLE PODIUM ACROSS CLASSES

BMW M Team WRT delivered another standout weekend in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the 6 Hours of São Paulo, taking a commanding win in Hypercar, the maiden victory for the BMW M Hybrid V8 trio of Dries Vanthoor, Kevin Magnussen and Raffaele Marciello. It's the team's second overall FIA WEC win of the year, following its historic one-two finish at Spa-Francorchamps, and it puts BMW M Team WRT firmly in contention in both the manufacturers' and drivers' championships. Team WRT's GT squad added to the celebrations with a strong podium finish in LMGT3 for the #69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Dan Harper, Parker Thompson and Anthony McIntosh, out in their Brazilian-inspired livery for the occasion.

The #15 BMW M Hybrid V8 started fourth, moved into second early on, and took the lead after the final round of stops to seal the win. It was a physically tough race for Dries Vanthoor, who fought through feeling unwell during his stint, to bring it home. On the sister car, Robin Frijns, René Rast and Sheldon van der Linde overturned a difficult 16th on the grid to finish sixth, despite a five-second penalty for a late contact with a Ferrari. It was enough to send Frijns and Rast back to the top of the drivers' championship standings.

In the GT garage, the #69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Dan Harper, Parker Thompson and Anthony McIntosh climbed from fourth to second in LMGT3. A great strategy and perfect race execution from the team and the drivers, played into the team's hands. The #32 car shared by Augusto Farfus, Sean Gelael and Darren Leung, crossed the line 12th. A 10-second penalty for a contact put an end to any hopes of a stronger result.

No time to slow down for Team WRT as this coming weekend the team shall be straight back into action with the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup in Misano, Italy.
