BMW M Motorsport’s GT Racing Legacy Lives On

BMW's motorsport heritage dates back to the 1920s, with a major milestone in 1972, the founding of BMW M GmbH. Since then, BMW has achieved global success across multiple racing disciplines.

On July 18, 2020, the BMW M4 GT3 completed its first rollout at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing, marking the next chapter in BMW M Motorsport’s GT racing legacy. Development began with wind tunnel testing and the 590-hp P58 engine on the test bench. The primary chassis was built in early 2020, followed by final assembly in just six weeks. Extensive testing in 2020 and 2021 saw the car log over 14,000 km, refining its drivability and reliability while reducing lifecycle costs and maintenance.

BMW M4 GT3 EVO: Global Success in GT Racing

The BMW M4 GT3 made its race debut on June 26, 2021, at the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) and has since competed globally in top GT racing series and endurance events. Alongside factory efforts, customer racing remains a key focus. The BMW M4 GT3, introduced in 2022, continues to win titles in top GT3 series worldwide, reinforcing BMW’s commitment to both professional and privateer teams. In 2025, Team WRT began competing with the new BMW M4 GT3 EVO and races in FIA WEC (LMGT3 Category), GT World Challenge Europe (Pro, Silver & Gold Category) as well as in Intercontinental GT Challenge (Pro Category).
