SILVER MEDAL AT THE MICHELIN 6 HOURS OF ABU DHABI
The Michelin 6 Hours of Abu Dhabi took place last Saturday at Yas Marina Circuit, where Team WRT’s #669 BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Dan Harper, Anthony McIntosh and Parker Thompson claimed a strong second-place finish. The race was characterised by intense on-track action and frequent neutralisations, with no fewer than 14 Code 60 periods slowing the field for more than a third of the event following multiple incidents. Qualifying fifth, Team WRT adopted a clean and disciplined approach, using the event as a valuable endurance test ahead of the upcoming Asian Le Mans Series rounds. Despite the disrupted race rhythm, the trio maintained a consistent pace, while the team, both on track and in the pitlane, remained fully focused and avoided incidents and penalties.
Staying in contention through the repeated safety periods, the decisive moment came in the last laps, when Parker Thompson executed a decisive move to secure second place and confirm the podium finish. Beyond the result, the race offered crucial mileage and insights for the next challenges: the Asian Le Mans Series continues on January 30–31 in Dubai, followed by the final round in Abu Dhabi on February 7–8. But that's not it, part of the team will remain in the Middle East for the 24 Hours of Dubai this weekend, while another group will head to Daytona for the ROAR, the official test ahead of the 24 Hours of Daytona, one week later.
Dan Harper: "P2 in the first race of the 2026 season is a solid result. We couldn’t beat thePorsche this weekend. The number of Code 60 periods didn’t help either, and Ihad several safety neutralisations during my stint, which was a bit frustrating. That said, the team executed the strategy brilliantly, and both the drivers and thecrew delivered a flawless performance with zero mistakes. This race was all aboutgaining experience, and in that respect, it was very positive. Tony and Parker dida fantastic job, so I think we’re in great shape for the upcoming ALMS round. Iwish the team all the best for the Dubai 24 Hours, and I’m already lookingforward to coming back here in a few weeks!”
