Matthias Ekström

Born on July 14, 1978, in Falun, Sweden, Mattias Ekström is a Swedish professional racing driver and motorsport icon, renowned for his versatility across DTM, rallycross, and GT racing. He began his career in karting and single-seaters before quickly rising to prominence in touring cars.

Ekström is a two-time DTM champion (2004, 2007), with numerous race wins, and has also excelled in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, securing multiple titles and podiums.

Between 2011 and 2013, he drove for Team WRT in GT3, competing in high-profile endurance and sprint races and helping to establish WRT as a leading GT team. His experience, speed, and technical feedback were key in developing the team’s GT3 program during those formative years.

Beyond driving, Ekström is the founder and team principal of EKS RX, showcasing his leadership and strategic insight in motorsport, and continues to participate in select GT and touring car events worldwide.
