Gearbox Technician
Assembly & Maintenance:
- Build, strip, inspect, and maintain race gearboxes, differentials, and driveline components to precise tolerances.
- Assemble related sub-systems such as suspension uprights, pedal boxes, steering racks, and cooling systems.
Quality & Inspection:
- Carry out detailed inspections of components for wear, damage, and fatigue using precision measuring equipment.
- Document build specifications, tolerances, and component lifing data accurately.
Trackside Support:
- Provide gearbox and sub-assembly support at race and test events, including quick turnaround repairs and installations.
- Work efficiently under pressure during pitstops, rebuilds, and between sessions.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, designers, and other mechanics to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Follow detailed build procedures and feedback into continuous improvement processes.
Logistics & Inventory:
- Maintain a clean and organized build environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are calibrated and serviceable.
- Manage stock levels of critical gearbox and sub-assembly parts.
But also:
- Support and ensure the generell correct build-up of a race car.
- Be involved in the daily, weekly, and monthly planning of build-up schedules.
- Communicate about the daily plans towards the Chief Mechanic.
- Support test and race activities as required.
- Always maintain a professional and clean appearance of the race cars and equipment. Similar approach for keeping the work area clean and organized and encourage others to do so.
- Act as a mentor to less experienced team members, to ensure quality control while promoting positive learning environment.
- Professionally representing the team and its sponsors on and off-track.
- Sharing a positive attitude and respect inside the team.
