> WRT and Vernay head to Monza for the TCR Europe penultimate weekend

The battle for the 2018 TCR Europe Series title enters a crucial phase as the series arrives in Monza for the penultimate event of the season.

The TCR Europe Series has come alive after a break of one month with the Leopard Lukoil Team-WRT aiming for another superb performance on the “Autodromo di Monza” circuit, for the penultimate event of the season that will be staged this weekend from September 21st-23rd.

Known as the ‘temple of speed’, the circuit was inaugurated in 1922 becoming the third permanent racetrack in the world. It hosted the Italian Grand Prix 15 times between 1922 and 1949, and then since the inception of the Formula One World Championship in 1950, with only one exception in 1980.

The Léopard Lukoil driver Jean-Karl Vernay is currently 5th in the Drivers’ standings with a 44 points gap while 110 are still to be distributed. The fight promises to be red-hot with a 28-car field including some distinguished guest stars such as former F1 driver Fabrizio Giovanardi, last year TCR Italy champion Nicola Baldan or Belgian WTCR ace Benjamin Lessennes.
