From zero to title: In July 2015, Volkswagen unveiled a close-to-production concept car based on the seventh generation Golf. In 2016, WRT entered the car on a full season basis in the TCR International Series winning the drivers’ title by a one-point margin with Leopard Racing and Stefano Comini.
Built according to the TCR regulations, the new VW Golf GTi TCR bring the GTI genes on the racetrack. With its 350-hp engine and its new aerodynamics, the playground for the production-based touring car could not be better. TCR – short for Touring Car Racing – is renowned as an innovative, exciting and yet affordable racing series with championships at regional, national and international level. From Germany to Thailand, Scandinavia to the Middle East, the TCR series has established a large fan base within a short time, and has won over many customer racing teams – with thrilling races, production-based cars, and fascinating characters and stories. And in the thick of it all: the Golf GTI TCR.
