In 2012, the Audi R8 LMS ultra succeeded to the successful R8 LMS GT3 sports car with which R8 LMS customers have won 115 races and 12 national and international titles in the space of just three years with WRT already shining around Europe.

Improving a totally successful vehicle yet again: This was the challenging task specified for the engineers of quattro GmbH. In the R8 LMS ultra Audi consistently implemented all the performance measures which ensure to continue to offer an intercontinentally competitive and attractive race car for the next years.

The development team focused on several central areas including, without being limited to, a lower car’s weight with an increased passive safety, an updated transmission, a new exhaust system, an optimized cooling system, an improved chassis, an enhanced brake cooling system, a better transverse control arm and improved dampers technology to represent the latest state of development. Finally, Quattro GmbH complemented the changes for 2012 with important aerodynamic improvements.

With the R8 LMS ultra, the German manufacturer confirmed itself as the benchmark of the category and won nearly all the races and series opened to the GT3 category.
